Tablet Presentation
Each uncoated orally disintegrating tablet contains:
Ondansetron IP 8 mg
Ondansetron is the serotonin receptor antagonist. It selectively blocks 5HT3 receptors. It is mainly used to treat nausea and vomiting caused by cytotoxic drugs anti- cancerous agent.
Indications & Usage
- Mostly used in paediatric population for the treatment of post-radiotherapy induced nausea and vomiting.
- Treats nausea and vomiting induced during chemotherapy
- Cholestatic pruritis
- Uremic pruritis
Mechanism of Action
- It selectively blocks 5HT3 receptors located in the nerve terminal of the vagus in periphery and centrally in the chemotrigger zone of area postrema.
- It also blocks the serotonin released from the enterochromaffin cells located in the small intestine as these cells initiates vomiting reflex and causes nausea and vomiting

It is 73% bound to serum proteins
Metabolism-
It is metabolized in the liver
Excretion-
It is excreted via urine and through feces

Contraindications
Contraindicated in people with known hypersensitivity.
Precaution
Stop taking it if you have any one of the symptoms such as rashes, itching, hoarseness and swelling.
